Emergencies can happen, sometimes with little or no warning and they can be scary. People under a lot of stress often don't think as clearly as usual and this affects decisions and reactions. One of the first steps to help you cope is building awareness and anticipation.

So today, explore and think about how you and your communities are likely to feel, think and respond to an emergency as based on past events. Find out about the risks that matter to you where you live, work and travel.

Don't be scared - be informed and get better prepared!

Your challenge for Day 1

Find out about risks where you live, work and travel.
What emergencies have happened in your area or nationally in the past that may have affected you?
Search and look over the news. Ask yourself, family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, how these emergencies
have affected individuals and the community.

Share a picture or story of an emergency or event that affected you and/or your community.
Remember to use hashtag #30Days30WaysUK
